What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic
Works on the relationship between the nervous system and your body. The nervous system consists of the brain, spinal cord and your nerves, which carry vital information from the brain to your limbs and other organs.
Everyday stress
Can have a negative effect on the nervous system, particularly the alignment of the spinal cord. Stress can cause interference in the communication between the brain and the body, stopping your body functioning at its optimum. This results in illness, fatigue and pain.
A chiropractor's job
Is to remove these interferences (called subluxations) by applying a light force (known as an adjustment) to correct misalignments in the body. When the spine and other parts of your body are in natural alignment your body is in its optimal state.
Chiropractic
Is a natural, drug-free effective method of healthcare.
Initial Consultation | First Visit
First Visiting Consultant
The purpose of the first visit is to discuss your health goals to see if chiropractic can help you. A thorough examination is performed to assess how well your body is coping. If necessary, x-rays may be needed first and an adjustment may be done.
Follow up visit
We will follow up on how well you are doing and suggest a care plan. This is a great opportunity to ask questions regarding chiropractic, discuss in detail your health goals and reflect on how you feel after the first adjustment.
Stages of Care
Relief Care
At the start of your chiropractic care, the main focus is to stabilise and strengthen the spine and nervous system, enabling your body to function and adapt better. The pains you feel are indications that your body is not functioning right. Frequent adjustments are recommended during this phase of care.
Maintenance Care
Once we have stabilised and strengthened your spine, this level of care is designed to rehab the muscles, tendons and ligaments to maintain the integrity of your spine. As the function of the spine and nervous system improves, you will also experience improvements in your body and organs. This phase of care includes strength work with our physiotherapist (only in Onehunga).
Wellness Care
This advanced level of care helps you further improve the function of your spine and nervous system and enables your body to adapt and function better in everyday life. Having your spine checked on a regular basis helps keep your spine and nervous system as free from interference as possible.
